Mission Driven Messaging:
Your Ultimate 90-Day Social Media Strategy
Are You Unlocking the Full Potential of Your Online Presence?
Have you ever wondered if your communication and social media posts are just drops in the digital ocean? In today’s world, having a strong online presence is crucial, but it’s not just about being present—it’s about being noticed. That’s where a digital and social media content strategy comes into play.
What Is a Social Media Content Strategy?
A social media content strategy is your game plan. It’s a detailed blueprint of what you’re going to say, how you’re going to say it, and who you’re hoping will listen. This strategy combines what you know about your audience and what you want to achieve with your online presence, using social media as your stage.
Why It’s Vital for Nonprofits and Churches
For nonprofits and churches, the stakes are even higher. Your message isn't just about brand awareness; it’s about community, mission, values, and purpose. It’s about reaching out and touching lives even when the seats are empty and the office is closed. By strategically using social media, you can:
Engage with your community daily: Keep the conversation going with those who matter most to your organization.
Amplify your message: Reach beyond your local area and find people who are hungry for what you offer.
Boost fundraising efforts: A well-timed post can go viral, bringing unexpected donations and support.
Encourage participation: Turn online views into offline actions, such as volunteer work and event attendance.
Whoa … that’s a lot. How do we get started?
I’m glad you asked. We’ve created a sample content strategy guide below. It’s not the only way you can create a content strategy, but it’s an easy template to begin your journey.

Your 90-Day Social Media Strategy Guide
This sample 90-day strategy is your starting block for making a real impact online.
Month 1: Foundation Building
Weeks 1-2: Define your goals and identify your audience. Are you raising awareness, seeking donations, or expanding your community? Who needs to hear your message? Create audience personas to tailor your content better.
Week 3: Conduct a content audit. What types of posts have worked in the past? What hasn’t? Learn from your analytics.
Week 4: Plan your content pillars. These are the themes that you will consistently talk about. For a church or nonprofit, these could be faith, community work, education, and testimony.
Month 2: Content Creation and Engagement
Weeks 5-6: Select 2-3 media sources you’d like to use (social media platforms, newsletter platforms, or any other tools you may use to share info with your community) and start creating content that aligns with your pillars. Aim for a mix of videos, images, and articles. Plan at least two weeks in advance.
Week 7: Focus on engagement. Respond to comments, ask questions, and participate in relevant conversations. Social media is a two-way street.
Week 8: Evaluate and adjust. What's the response been? More likes, shares, comments? Adjust your upcoming content accordingly.
Month 3: Growth and Expansion
Week 9: Collaborate with influencers or other organizations. This can expand your reach and lend credibility.
Week 10: Start a hashtag campaign. Create a unique, catchy hashtag that reflects one of your content pillars and encourage your community to use it.
Week 11: Invest in a small ad spend to boost your most successful post. Target it to the audience you defined in month 1.
Week 12: Review your metrics. What growth have you seen? Refine your goals and strategy for the next 90 days based on what you’ve learned.
Remember!
Remember, a strategy is not set in stone; it's a living document that evolves. As you learn what resonates with your audience, be willing to adapt and experiment. The digital world is your oyster, and with a strong strategy, you're well on your way to making meaningful pearls!
